A word from Jennifer: Can you believe  that it is October already?  As we move into this second month of school, I encourage all families to connect with their school to see how your children performed on their academic screeners.  Screeners help teachers better understand the needs of their students. Screeners are also used to place students into our Intervention Groups and Enrichment Groups in grades 4-8.  Find out more by contacting your child's school!

This event is a fun twist  on "trunk-or-treat".  All District 8 schools and community partners are strongly encouraged to participate with festively decorated car trunks, where schools will give away goodies such as candy, snacks, school supplies, books, and more.  The event will be held on Stickball Boulevard (between Randall and Seward Avenue) from 10:00am-1:00pm.  For more information, please contact Vanessa Ruiz at [email protected] (See attached flyer)

The NYC Kids RISE Save for College Program is a scholarship and savings initiative supporting the futures of NYC pubic school students, regardless of family income or immigration status.  In partnership with NYC Kids RISE, every student in kindergarten through 4^th grade enrolled in NYC public schools is automatically enrolled and receives a $100 NYC Scholarship account, unless/parents/guardians choose to opt-out.

NYC High School students interested in staratups, science, or business can apply to the free EFL Young Ambassadors Program at NYU Stern.  Participants will attend startup conferences, shadow MBA mentors, and learn from founders and investors.  The program includes at least one full-day meeting and a virtual prep session.  Applications are accepted throughout the school year.
