A word from Jennifer: As November rolls in, it is now time for Parent-Teacher Conferences. Please ensure that you reach out to your child's school to get more information. This serves as as wonderful opportunity to see how your child is doing at this point in the year. Elementary conferences are this week, Middle School the following week and High School conferences will be held during the third week of the month.

Save for College Program
The NYC Kids RISE Save for College Program is a scholarship and savings initiative supporting the futures of NYC public school students, regardless of family income or immigration status. In partnership with NYC Kids RISE, every student in kindergarten through 4th grade enrolled in NYC public schools is automatically enrolled and receives a $100 NYC Scholarship account, unless parents/guardians choose to opt-out.

The GenConnect Program, offered by the Office of Multilingual Learners, is an eight-week intergenerational program that brings multilingual students and their families together in a unique environment that fosters and develops strong family bonds, advocacy, literacy and social-emotional support.

Teen Photo Contest at the Jewish Museum

Middle and High School Students are invited to submit up to three original photographs inspired by the Jewish Museum's exhibition theme: Renewal (personal change, new traditions, etc.) Winning photos will be featured on the Museum's social media. All entries must be the student's own work.

NYBG Community Access Program
Bronx residents are invited to experience the seasonal beauty across our 250 acres - free of charge! Bring the whole family for seasonal fun throughout the grounds. The Grounds Access Pass is available Tuesdays through Sunday and holiday Mondays. Proof of Bronx residency is required. Please note that parking fees is not included. Limit of six tickets per order.

A word from Jennifer: Can you believe that it is October already? As we move into this second month of school, I encourage all families to connect with their school to see how your children performed on their academic screeners. Screeners help teachers better understand the needs of their students. Screeners are also used to place students into our Intervention Groups and Enrichment Groups in grades 4-8. Find out more by contacting your child's school!

On October 18th, District 8 will host the 3rd Annual CAR-nival!!
This event is a fun twist on "trunk-or-treat". All District 8 schools and community partners are strongly encouraged to participate with festively decorated car trunks, where schools will give away goodies such as candy, snacks, school supplies, books, and more.
